Seeing the aurora was one of my dreams . It’s not just about a place that is very far from my home , very cold, but also the right time . It is half calculation, half luck
When I visited the United States, my friend gave me a birthday present trip to Alaska

Alaska is a U.S. state situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent. Bordering the state to the east is Yukon, a Canadian territory, and the Canadian province of British Columbia, the Arctic Ocean to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, with Russia (specifically, Siberia) further west across the Bering Strait (Wikipedia)

Though winter was almost over, we insisted to visit Alaska to catch the aurora borealis. And although only a small possibility of seeing the aurora, since the forecast auroral activity for that time only low, but we decided to try our luck in 3 days in Alaska
We flew to anchorage and the weather seemed unfriendly . Anchorage is the northernmost city in the United States with more than 100,000 residents

We drove to Fairbanks to chase the aurora. Fairbanks is second largest city in Alaska, 359 miles from Anchorage, lying less than 120 miles (190 km) south of the Arctic Circle (wikipedia)
the sky was cloudy

Surprisingly , a few miles ahead of Fairbanks , the sky became clear , and the sun came out …I was in the northernmost city on earth I have ever visited

Before the middle of the night , we went to Ester Dome , one of the best places to see the aurora in Fairbanks . Suddenly I saw the green light in the sky .. Aurora ! finally ! Thank God . I am the luckiest woman in the world hehe .
My trip to Alaska was one of the best and unforgettable trip I’ve ever done. Being in Alaska itself was amazing and the aurora was an incredible bonus . And I was also lucky to see Mount McKinley (Denali) clearly, the highest mountain in North America
This is the best birthday present I ever had…. thanks

Thank you for the opportunity to see some truly amazing photographs. And yes you were twice blessed first to see Denali and second to view the Northern Lights. Do come back again so more of Alaska will be captured through your wonderful photographs.
Thank you. I wish I could go back to alaska again, especially in the summer 🙂
